Abstract: The objectives of this research work are as follows: newline ^ To study the methods and procedures followed by general hospitals for treatment and disposal of medical waste. newline ^ To compare the cost effectiveness of medical waste treating technologies(autoclave, hydroclave and incinerator) used to disinfect the infected waste by assessing economical, technological, social, and environmental costs and benefits gained by each. newline ^ To understand the adverse effects of mismanagement of hospital waste on healthcare workers, environment and community as a whole. newlineLimitations of the study, selection and preparation of an appropriate research design are also described. newline newline
